This book contains the full, original text of Andrew Collins’s 2009 book Beneath the Pyramids with additional new material and photos presenting recent research showing that extensive underground structures likely lie beneath the Giza Plateau and pyramids.

In 2008, Collins led a small team of researchers who discovered a previously forgotten cave system at Giza. In this book, Collins related that the cave system likely led to hidden structures or chambers beneath the middle pyramid on the plateau. The discovery led to a media sensation eventually leading to Dr. Zahi Hawass exploring the underground complex Collins had discovered. In 2025, two university-based researchers announced that advanced radar imaging had identified a series of megastructures located deep underneath the pyramid Collins had identified as the site where the cave system led. Their announcement shocked the archaeological community and seemingly confirms Collins’s assertion that the cave system leads to hidden underground chambers.

Many remain rightly skeptical of the new satellite-based findings, but as early as 1977 a scientific team from the Stanford Research Institute also detected huge underground structures beneath the Second Pyramid. This truly suggests that something of immense importance to humanity does indeed await discovery beneath the pyramids of Giza, and knowledge that underground cities, deep shaft mines, and sub-surface rock architecture were all being constructed as early as 9600 BCE by the culture responsible for Göbekli Tepe in Turkey confirms that those who came before the Egyptian pharaohs may themselves have been creating similar structures.

This book presents major clues on what lies beneath the sands of Giza as told in ancient Egyptian origin stories. These speak of a subterranean structure known as the Underworld of the Soul that was said to contain a powerful object that illuminated the island on which the structure was originally located.
